Snotrot Supply Depot 3rd Incursion. November 29 2013

This is my first battle report, and as such it is not nearly has good as my most recent (7th); with each new battle report better than the last.

We come into the story at the 3rd Daemonic incursion of Snotrot Supply Depot. The first with an easy win for the Daemons (and was my first Daemon battle) and the second an easy win for the Orks. Unfortunately I don't have battle reports for them. I will post a history of all my battles since 6th ed came out.

November 29: Snotrot Supply Depot 3rd Incursion

Not long after the Orks defeat the Daemons, the warp fiends are back. This time a pair of Daemon Princes of Tzeentch lead a shambling host of Plaguebearers. However, there is still no sign of Ku’Gurogh and the origin of the rift.

Daemons v Orks

Points: 1250

Mission: Crusade with 5 objectives
Deployment: Hammer and Anvil
Nightfighting: Rolled Turn 5

Daemons won the roll to choose sides.
Daemons won the roll to place objectives first.
Orks won the roll and elected to go second.

The battlefield:
The battle field was setup while Mike went to get dinner to save time, I rolled for each 6th treating big pieces as 2 and small as 1. This was before sides were chosen and done to keep each side balanced as possible.

Objectives:
5 Objectives were placed, 2 in Daemon deployment zone, 2 in the central zone and 1 in the Ork deployment zone. No photo was taken of the objectives specifically but they can be seen in the Daemon deployment pic (Arrows).

Deployment.

Daemon deployment.

Ork Deployment.

Daemon, top turn 1.

Orks fail to seize the initiative.

1) Daemon Princes both cast Invisibility on themselves granting Shrouded and Stealth (+3 cover) and go into flying mode. They fly up the right flank. 1 plaguebearer squad shambles forward. I forgot to drop the Portaglyph.
White prince shoots Helfire Gaze (18’’ S8 AP1 Assault Lance) at the battlewagon, pens and rolls a 1 getting a weapon destroyed.
Forgot to roll on the Warp Storm table!

Daemons: 6
Orks: 3

Ork, Bottom turn 1:

2) Ork right flank advance. Orks unload mass shooting at the daemon princes and the forward squad of plaguebearers and fail to do any wounds due to insane cover saves (DPs get 2+ cover with a reroll of 1 and plaguebearers get 2+ cover)

Daemons: 6
Orks: 3

Daemon, top turn 2.

1 squad of 10 plaguebearers deep strike in behind the trees. Daemon Princes each cast invisibility on themselves again. 1) I drop the Portaglyph and it scatters right in front of the Ork battle line and the Tank busters, placing the the only vehicle in the Daemon army right next to them!
Portaglyph fails to spawn anything.
Warlord Daemon Prince casts terrify on the grots holding the objective and they fall back despite a squig eating one for a reroll.
1 plaguebearer squad continues to shambles forward.
Daemon Princes fly over the battle wagon vector striking it and getting a pen, once again rolling a 1 but still wrecking it. The Ork vehicle manages to avoid any disastrous consequences (due to their special engineering, they have additional consequences when wrecked) and the 12 boyz casually get out. Daemons get first blood. Daemons hold Linebreaker.
Forgot to roll on the Warp Storm table again!

Daemons: 8

Orks: 3

Ork, bottom turn 2.

1) Ork Stormboyz led by Boss Zagstruck deep strike in and scatter from the plaguebearers holding the tall ruined building but landed next to the plaguebearers holding the low ruined building. 2) Ork right flank continue to advance and capture the central objective on that side. Grots regroup and retake the objective.

Orks continue to fire a stupendous amount of shooting at the Daemon Princes and forward plaguebearers, killing a few plaguebearers but fail to do anything to the DPs. Until the grots shoot and manage to wound the White DP! Then the Ork Boyz from the battle wagon rapid fire, they fail to wound but manage to ground the White Daemon Prince causing a second wound!
Tanks hunters fail to shoot the Portaglyph and 1 bomb squig runs off to attack the terrain instead of the Portaglyph.

Zagstruck and the stormboyz assault into the plaguebearers using Zagstruck’s special ability and 3 Stormboyz crash and die in the process. The Orks manage to wipe the plaguebearers. Orks hold Linebreaker
Tanks hunters forget to assault the Portaglyph.

Daemons: 5
Orks: 10

Daemons, top turn 3.

Last squad of plaguebearers arrive and shamble in behind the tall ruins on the left flank. The palguebearers that came in by deep strike moved back to assault the Stormboyz.
Both Daemon Princes cast invisibility. Warlord casts terrify on the Burner Boyz and they Deny the Whitch. White Daemon Prince casts Hallucinate on the Ork Boyz from the battlewagon and attack themselves killing a few.
Portaglyph spawns 13 Daemonettes, they run into cover for some reason, not sure why I did that as the 5+ cover is no better than their 5++ invol save.

A Warp anomaly meant that almost twice the number of Daemonettes arrived. My mistake.

Warlord DP flies over the Big Mek with the Shockk Attack Gun vector striking him and wounding him.
White Daemon prince walks up in preparation to assault the boyz from the battlewagon.
Warp Storm brings the wrath of Khorne but nothing of significance happens.
White DP casts Hellfire Gaze and kills an Ork Boy.
2 Squads of plaguebearers assault the Stormboyz and wipe them retaking the objective.

White DP assaults the Ork Boyz wiping them but takes a wound when they explode due to the Staff of Change. He consolidates into partial cover.

Daemons: 8
Orks: 6

Orks, bottom turn 3.

Killa Kans continue to advance up their right flank.
Orks continue to shoot the snot out of the forward plaguebearers killing a few more. Tank hunters shoot and do nothing to the Portaglyph, but he bomb squig is released and blows the portaglyph up!

Grots can see the White Daemon Prince’s foot and shoot (body counts, wings don’t).

The White DP has invisibility so get 2+ cover and can reroll a 1. He rolls a single 1 out of all the saves, casts his reroll and rolls a 1!!! Grots kill a 355pt Daemon prince! Not only that but they did ½ the wounds total!

Massed shooting kill all but 3 Daemonettes.

Daemons: 8
Orks: 6

Daemons, top turn 4.

Warlord DP casts invisibility. Warlord DP casts terrify on the burner boyz and they fall back, but remain on the table. DP drops to the ground the jumps over next to the grots on the objective and the Big Gunz.
Plaguebearer squad that came in by reserves the previous turn advance and the plaguebearers behind the trees advance towards the objective in the trees.
Remaining forward plaguebearers shamble out towards the Killa Kans.
1) Remaining 3 Daemonettes go through the trees and around the back.
Daemons make a major tactical error which ultimately prevents them from winning! He assaults the Big Gunz killing them all rather than the Grots holding the objective (BRAINFADE!). This mistake, however, kept the game very close and thus exciting so it made it more fun. DP takes 2W from exploding Grots (Staff of Change).

Warp Storm rolls Tzeentch storm striking at Nurgle and non-daemons but with little effect.

Plaguebearers assault the Killa Kans and knock off 1HP but get wiped due to Daemonic Instability.

Daemons: 8
Orks: 6

Orks, bottom turn 4.

Killa Kans continue to advance towards the Daemon controlled objective and have Linebreaker.
Burna Boyz fail to regroup and run off the table. 3rd game in a row they do nothing!
Tank busters shoot Daemonettes, wounding 3 times but they make all their invulnerable saves!
Orks need to kill the Warlord DP to prevent him from assaulting the Grots holding the objective. They amass a torrent of firepower into him and knock off another wound.
With 1 wound left they had 1 final shot from the Shockk Attack gun. IT ROLLS A HIT! ROLLS DOUBLE 4 for weapon strength causing snotlings to spray out in a mass of bones and gore and reducing the attack to a small blast and strength 6. A wound is rolled, it all came down to this invol save… The DP fails! Orks get Slay the Warlord and keep their Grots alive!!! Daemons also no longer hold Linebreaker.

Daemons: 7
Orks: 8

Daemons, top turn 5.

Night fighting is rolled and in effect.

Plagurbearers shamble forward towards the Killa Kans.
Daemonettes run in and contest the Ork objective and hold Linbreaker.
Warp Storm rolls Tzeentch again! But nothing significant happens.

Plaguebearers assault the Killa Kans, wrecking 1 and putting a HP on the other 2.

Daemons: 8
Orks: 5

Orks, bottom turn 5.

Ork Warboss splits from Boyz and advances towards the objective in the Trees.
Grots shoot at the Daemonettes and kill 2.
Killa Kans fight Plaguebearers and 1 Kan is wrecked.

Daemons: 8
Orks: 5

Game continues.

Daemons, top turn 6.

Plaguebearers shamble into the trees and capture the objective.
Warp Storm would turn an enemy psyche into a Spawn but there are none.
Daemonette assaults Grots killing 1 but getting killed and loosing Linebreaker

Plaguebearers continue to fight the Killa Kan, loosing a few to its attacks and Daemonic instability.

Daemons: 10
Orks: 8

Orks, bottom turn 6.

Warboss attempts to move into the trees and fails to make the distance.
Ork Shooting kills a few Plaguebearers in the trees.
Plaguebearers kill the final Killa Kan and orks loose Linebreaker.

Daemons: 10
Orks: 7

Game continues.

Daemons, top turn 7.

Warp Storm sees Khorne’s Wrath knock a wound off the Warboss but nothing else happens.

Daemons: 10
Orks: 7

Orks, bottom turn 7.

1) Warboss moves and can just contest the objective in the trees without going into cover!

FINAL SCORE:

Daemons: 7

Orks: 7
