The Battle for Snotrot Supply Depot, 4th Incursion



This time Kairos Fateweaver, the dreaded Greater Daemon of Tzeentch appears at the besieged supply depot along with a large contingent of Flesh Houds of Khorne. Can the Orks fight off this new wave?

Nightfighting: Did not occur during the game
Objectives: 4

Orks won the roll to choose sides.
Orks won the roll and elected to go second.

The Battlefield:
The battlefield was set up once again with large pieces worth 2 and small 1 on the terrain roll. However, this game Mike was using his Warbuggies so we had fewer pieces of terrain to use. So we agreed on the following:

Objectives are marked by the YELLOW dot, and the deployment lines by the green dashed line.

Would you believe I forgot to bring my KhorneDogs (Flesh Hounds), the very CENTERPIECE of my army!!!!
So, what was supposed to look something like this:

Daemon Deployment:
1. For some reason I put my Daemonettes in the centre, they were supposed to support the Dogs but… on well.


Ork deployment:
1. KhorneDogs scout.


 

Daemon, Top Turn 1.


Herald uses Grimorie, fails, re-rolls due to Fateweaver (special Daemonic artefact) and succeeds.
Portaglyph is placed, scatters a long way but finishes up near an objective.
KhorneDogs move up flank, Fateweaver pulls back, Daemonettes huddle.
Warp Storm rolls Punished by the gods (bad for Daemons), Fateweaver re-rolls (warlord trait) and gets Daemonic Possession (does nothing).
Soul Grinder scores a HIT and kills 2 Burna Boyz and 3 Ork Boyz
Skull Cannon scores a HIT and kills 4 Lootas

Orks, Bottom Turn 1.


Orks advance, Ork Warbuggies block KhorneDog advance to slow them down and 20 Boyz fall back.


1. Ork Boyz disembark from Trukk. 2. Ork Warbuggies unload 3 scorchers and 20 Boyz unload into KhorneDogs and kill 2


Lootas shoot Soul Grinder and it takes a HP.
Boyz run to capture objective.

Herald casts Grimorie on KhorneDogs.
KhorneDogs advance, Daemonettes advance.
Portaglyph spawns 8 Plaguebearers.
Warpstorm gets Warp Ebb (bad for Daemons), Fateweaver re-rolls for Rot, Glorious Rot and scores 2HP off the Ork Trukk and wrecks it!
Daemons get First Blood
Skull Cannon scores a HIT and kills 8 Ork Boyz.
Soul Grinder scatters but kills 5 Lootas.
Daemonettes decide to declare a suicide charge against the Burna Boyz, I wanted to know if they were really as bad as I have always thought… 7 Daemonettes are killed by overwatch making the distance required 11’’ and even with fleet the charge fails, but by only ½ inch. Yes, they are as bad as I thought.
KhorneDogs assault and wipe out the 20 strong Ork Boyz and feast on their flesh! Daemons have Linebreaker.

Orks, Bottom Turn 2.


Ork Burna-Bommer and Storm Boyz arrive from reserve.


Burna-Bommer drops a burna bomb but fails to kill a KhorneDog.
1. Ork Boyz advance around objective. 2. Burna Boyz advance towards Daemonettes. 3. Killa Kans advance.
4. Warboss and Boyz advance and capture central objective (after pic).



Warbuggies and Killa Kans flame Khorne Dogs and kill 6 in total.
Burna Boyz flame Daemonettes and kill 4.
Lootas fail to harm Soul Grinder.
Zagstruck assaults Skull Cannon loosing 2 Orks to due to crashing (special Zagstruck ability, can assault the turn he deepstrikes but some Orks crash and die). Skull Cannon is annihilated! Orks gain a VP for destroying a Heavy unit.


1. Killa Kans assault KhorneDogs in a great tactical move by Mike, my KhorneDog unit can only hurt the Kans with 4 attacks from the herald and can only glance on a 6. They will all be tied up for the rest of the game.
Storm Boyz have Linebreaker.
 
I know the dice says turn 3 in the pic below, but this was taken at the start of 3 before I moved so it’s the same as the end of turn 2.

Herald casts Grimorie on KhorneDogs.
Fateweaver flies over to Storm Boyz.
Daemonettes run around randomly.
Portaglyph spawns 8 Daemonettes.
Plaguebearers advance on objective in building and contest it, 8 Daemonettes run onto the same objective.
Warpstorm is calm.
Soul Grinder tries to shoot Storm Boyz, scatters and misses.
Fateweaver tries to cast Flickering Fire and Storm Boyz - DENY THE WITCH!
Assault between KhorneDogs and Killa Kans continues with a few dead dogs.

Orks, Bottom Turn 3.


Burna-Bommer bombs Daemonettes killing 3.
1. Ork Boyz fall back from the objective and 2. Burna Boyz advance on that same objective. 3. Warbos and mob continue advance.
Burna-Bommer shoots rockets at Plaguebearers in the forest and kills 4.
Lootas fail to harm Soul Grinder
Storm Boyz assault Portaglyph and it EXPLODES 5’’, but out of 10 hits on a 4+ only 2 wound!
I know the dice says turn 4 in the pic below, but this was taken at the start of 4 before I moved so it’s the same as the end of turn 3.

Herald casts Grimorie.
Fateweaver pivots and flies towards Burna-Bommer.
Daemonettes and Plaguebearers move from the objective and advance on Storm Boyz.
Warpstorm rolls Storm of Fire, hits Lootas and kills a few.
Fateweaver takes on the Burna-Bommer in an aerial dogfight, casts Flickering Fire - DENY THE WITCH, AGAIN!!!!



Soul Grinder shoots advancing Warboss with Boyz and kills 5.
 
1. Plaguebearers assault Storm Boyz soaking up overwatch then 2. Daemonettes assault.

Warbuggies charge in, one gets stuck on difficult terrain.


1. Burna Boyz move to cover the objective in flame should a Daemon try to capture it.
Burna-Bommer flies forward.
2. Warboss and Boyz advance off central objective towards Soul Grinder.
Burna-Bommer shoots rockets at Plaguebearers killing 5.
3. Lootas fail to harm Soul Grinder…
4. Warbuggies flame all but 1 remaining Daemonette.
5. Killa Kans and KhorneDogs continue to fight.
End of Ork turn 4.

Daemons, Top Turn 5.


No Nightfighting.
Herald fails Grimorie rolling a 2, re-rolls due to Fateweaver and rolls another 2! KhorneDogs now only have 6++ save.
Daemonettes and Plaguebearers move to capture the objective but remain out of flamer range of the Burna Boyz.
Fateweaver casts Enfeeble on Warboss and Boyz, making them -1 toughness and Strength.
Fateweaver pivots and flies over Boyz, vector striking, rolling a 1 for hits and only killing 1 Boy.
Forgot Warpstorm.
Soul Grinder shoots at Burna Boyz HIT killing 5 and the remaining falls back.
Fateweaver casts Flickering Fire on Warboss and Boyz, finally they don’t deny the witch.
Fateweaver rolls 19 ATTACKS!
Fateweaver rolls 15 HITS! (He is BS6)
Fateweaver rolls 12 WOUNDS! (Enfeeble)
1. All but 1 ork is killed, he passes his moral check. Daemons get Slay the Warlord.
2. Daemonettes run onto the objective.
Killa Kans and KhorneDogs continue to fight.

Orks, Bottom Turn 5.


3. Warbuggies zoom across the battlefield towards the objective held by the Daemonettes and Plaguebearers.
4. Ork Boyz advance on the Central objective and capture it. Burna-Bommer flies off the battlefield.
5. Lootas shoot at Fateweaver, hit 2 times, 1 wound, Fateweaver passes save. Rolls for grounding test, fails, re-rolls and passes.
6. Killa Kans and KhorneDogs continue to fight.
